Shy or Fearful?

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

shy-woman.jpgJenn Givler, (I’ve recently embraced Jenn in to my circle of friends) and I are having a conversation at the Holistic Business Networking forum about dropping the ball. I posed the question as to why we let it happen. Jenn commented that she has recently worked with some of her clients on that very subject - and quite often it comes down to fear.

I can relate to that. I have to admit there have been times its held me back.
All those what-ifs.

What if I start a Web site/blog/workshop/tele-seminar/newsletter and nobody shows up or signs up?

It’s not fear of the work involved in doing those things (well, maybe a little). The fear of failure can often times put us right there in the failure mode. Law of Attraction at its finest (or worst).

Taking steps and putting yourself out there is frightening - but it is so empowering when you do!

Check out Jenn’s article about promoting your Holistic Business and be sure to sign up for her newsletter.

And - get out there and show us your stuff!

Namaste ~ ~

Holistic Business Networking

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

As promised, here is my “special” announcement for the Holistic Business Community:

Introducing . . . The Holistic Business Networking Forum

Namaste ~~

Yes, there is a brand new forum in town and it is specifically for business owners who are in or who specialize in providing support to those in the holistic/healing arts/ alternative medicine/green and sustainable living businesses.

This is not a list serv type group, but a very interactive forum designed to promote camaraderie, sharing, business growth, networking, and relationship building. There is absolutely *no* cost to join or maintain a membership - except for your time.

It’s brand-spanking new and promises to be a wealth of information to those of us who prefer to conduct business in perhaps a more purposeful way than traditional practices operate.

Our mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment, as well as a “you asked for it, you’re going to get the truth” that is necessary for you and your business to prosper!

Spamming and ad blasting will not be tolerated, and those who do not share in the same values will not be eligible for membership. What this means is that we’ll have a group of serious, dedicated professionals all together in one place!

Please, take a trip over to Holistic Business Networking, register, and see what it’s all about!

Feel free to pass this invitation along to anyone you know who may benefit from this community.

I hope to “see” you on the forum!

So, that’s it - I am going to be marketing this pretty heavily over the next weeks/months. If you are an expert in a topic you see on the forum and are interested in some opportunities I may have - please register and drop me a line and let me know.

I’ve taken it this far, and I’m very happily putting all kinds of time in to it - but it’s for all of us.

I found the internet community to be lacking in this sort of thing for “us” and set out to do something about it.

Just don’t be shy - come on in and help build bridges!

I really do hope to meet you and get to know you better!

Waiting For Perfection

Monday, March 19th, 2007

It can be a very long wait. And not usually worth it. Trust me.

I’ve been working on a venture for the Holistic Business Community. A forum for those of us that either operate a holistic business or specialize in holistic business support to meet and network. I’ve been working on this for what seems like a very long time. I belong to various list servs and have not found them to offer what I was looking for, so I’m going a different route. One that I think offers much more sharing, camaraderie, and opportunity for growth than what I’ve so far encountered.

I wanted it to be perfect before going live. Hence, the very long time.

Over the weekend I told myself I had to just do it! I may never think it’s perfect and there will always be additions, corrections, better ways of doing things, but the best way for me to test the waters was - again, to just do it!

So, no announcement yet, but in the next day or two.

If you operate a holistic business, provide support for holistic business, operate a green business, are a healing arts professional, or otherwise think this will be the place for you for holistic business networking and make lasting personal and business relationships – watch for the news.

I’m REALLY excited!

Back to the title of this post. Don’t let what is most likely fear stop you from putting that first foot forward and taking the plunge! It’s kind of like a commercial I remember hearing some years back. Where someone was lamenting how old they would be in x number of years if they went back to night school to complete their degree. They were asked how old they would be in x number of years if they didn’t go back for their degree. Yup, pretty obvious, a real slap on the forehead – AHA – kind of moment.

Take chances – you may be your own worst enemy when it comes to business progress!

Great Opportunity - Don’t Miss Out!

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

This is going to be a great tele-seminar. I can vouch for the AudioAcrobat software that Pat’s company has produced. It is extremely easy to use and produces great results. I conducted several tests - calling in on landline phone, cell phone, with and without headset, etc. and all the recording sounded marvelous!

This is not what the entire seminar is about, just wanted to mention that it’s a great product and a wonderful way to get your voice and your message on your Web site and/or blog, record podcasts, coaching sessions, or tele-classes, and receive testimonials from clients.

To register for the seminar go here.

Anyway - here are the specs (you need to sign up ahead of time):

Using Radio PR to Promote Your Business
with Pat Lynch of WomensRadio

DATE: Thursday, February 15, 2007
TIME: 5pm PST / 6pm MST / 7pm CST / 8pm EST
LENGTH: 60 minutes (please call in 10 min. early)
COST: FREE!

You know you need to employ PR (public relations) to promote your business, but it was not exactly your major in college, so to speak.

Besides, you are so busy just handling the details of your business.

And then you have those snooty people in the media who make you feel like a pebble on the beach. You’re not even sure what to do first or how much time and money to spend to get it done. You’ve heard you can get publicity for free, but that assumes you know something about publicity, PR and the media. Where do you start?

Start with this one-hour tele-seminar!

Pat Lynch started her own PR, advertising and marketing firm in Atlanta at the age of 25, and was the first women to do so in the South. Pat is going to share some:

–practical advice on getting started
–methods of ramping up to be the media expert, and
–taking advantage of on-the-ground radio as well as the new Web world–Web radio and blogs, too!

No matter what your level of media sophistication, you’ll get something from the fast-paced trip to help you use radio PR to promote your business.

About Pat Lynch, WomensRadio
During her 34 years in advertising, marketing and public relations, Pat was an innovator in the use of media. She began a media company for women in 1996. The first project was WomensRadio. In 2002, she launched WomensCalendar and WomensCalendar eNewsletter that reaches some half million women leaders each week.

In 2004, her company launched two new media services: Press Your Point, a powerful, yet inexpensive press release service; and AudioAcrobat, a unique and very easy-to-use audio recording and streaming service. In 2005, her company launched the all-new Women’s Radio with it’s “hub” of 30 minute-long programs.

Pat is a frequent speaker at women’s events, not only about the use of media, but more importantly, about her favorite subject “Speaking Up.”

This free tele-seminar is being offered to the business community by the Virtual Assistance Chamber of Commerce.
